S.M.I.L.E. SUMMER CAMP™
Special Memories Include Laughter & Enrichment
Summer Camp
For many youngsters, summer means summer camp with all its many pleasures of childhood: Playing games,
making friends, and having plenty of smiles to go around. But hundreds of kids rarely get to make new
friends or play the childhood games we take for granted.
The therapeutic program was developed for children with disabilities out of a need to provide them with a
fun, interactive way to further develop their social skills and to help these kids have a better summer –
and a better life.
Space is limited to only 5 children per week. The ratio will be 5 children with two adults. Reserve your
child's place with a $100 deposit that will be credited towards your child's tuition.

Monarch Schools' Summer Social Language Program
The 2010 Monarch Summer Social Language Program, which will take place June 21 – July 23, is
a 5-week summer program located at Monarch School in Shaker Heights, for children and teenagers,
ages 6-18, with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
At Monarch Summer Social Language Program, our goal is for children to have fun. We emphasize
building social and communication skills through a highly engaging curriculum which utilizes written
and visual supports, in a therapeutic and recreational environment. All activities are presented as
traditional camp activities including: sports/group games, arts and crafts, music/art therapy, swimming
and drama. The program’s inclusion of typical peer models assists with skill development. The result is
a fun-filled experience where children gain self-confidence while creating lasting friendships.
IEP-Driven Program
All of our activities are designed to coordinate with the children’s Individual Educational Program
(IEP) – while the kids are having fun, we continue to teach.
Low Child-to-Staff Ratio
We purposely limit the number of attendees so that your child can get the small-group and one-on-one
attention needed to ensure a successful experience.
Highly Trained Staff
All staff members are professionally trained intervention specialists, speech, music and art therapists,
a drama instructor and college assistants.

Game On Summer Camp
Game On is an adventure-based program designed to facilitate pro-social interactions in children who
have difficulty connecting with peers. Focusing on children with high-functioning autism in Pre-K

challenges their autism presents, while providing peer models with life lessons in diversity and
multiple intelligence. Ultimately, all involved deepen their appreciation and understanding of each
individual’s unique qualities and strengths through fun, interactive, kid-centered activities.
Game On Summer Camp is a nature-based day camp that encourages social interactions while
cultivating a connection with the outdoors. Kids develop an appreciation for nature with engaging
activities that are age/developmentally appropriate ... and really big fun!
In addition to employing counselors trained as intervention specialists and program specialists,
Game On also has a speech and language pathologist on staff. Combined with college and high school
